Self-Advocacy Board of Los Angeles County (SABLAC)
The Self-Advocacy Board of Los Angeles County (SABLAC) is an organization run by and for people with developmental disabilities. Its purpose is to strengthen the self-advocacy movement throughout Los Angeles by:
- helping more self-advocacy groups get started;
- teaching people about their rights;
- developing leadership skills; and
- providing input on important legislation and policies.
We do this through periodic trainings, a large conference approximately every 2 years, and through our newsletter, mailings, and updates to this website.
The Self-Advocacy Board began in 1988 and became a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization in 1999. Facilitation is provided by staff from Area Board 10.
