California Law guarantees specific rights to persons with developmental disabilities.
Among them:
  • Full constitutional rights as enjoyed by all persons
  • Access to treatment and habilitation
  • Dignity, privacy, and humane care
  • Education in publicly supported schools, regardless of degree of handicap
  • Prompt medical care and treatment
  • Religious freedom and practice
  • Social interaction and participation in community affairs
  • Recreation and physical exercise
  • Freedom from harm, unneccessary restraint, isolation, excessive medication, abuse or neglect.
