WHAT ARE MY RIGHTS?
California Law guarantees specific rights to persons with developmental disabilities.
Among them:
- Full constitutional rights as enjoyed by all persons
- Access to treatment and habilitation
- Dignity, privacy, and humane care
- Education in publicly supported schools, regardless of degree of handicap
- Prompt medical care and treatment
- Religious freedom and practice
- Social interaction and participation in community affairs
- Recreation and physical exercise
- Freedom from harm, unneccessary restraint, isolation, excessive medication, abuse or neglect.
